Establish, in consort with the Lincoln/Lancaster County Planning Department and the Lincoln Urban Development Department, a Green Planning Task Force to analyze and propose changes, if necessary, to the Lincoln/Lancaster County Comprehensive Plan. (Note: for optimum scheduling with the cyclical schedule of rewrites for the Comp Plan, this work should be accomplished before the end of calendar year 2008.)
Form a broad coalition with both public and private entities that have stakeholder interests in the Comp Plan.
Work with the Design and Construction Coalition to consider ways that would augment an “incentives package,” through planning and zoning permitting and offer bonus rewards for projects that propose distinct, measurable green characteristics.
Work with regional communities, governments and authorities to bring regional collaboration and the protection and enhancement of natural systems and natural resources into the Comp Plan.
Work with the city departments and the Education Coalition to develop a package of educational materials for city leaders and the development community on Lincoln Green by Design.
